Holiday apartments on grounds rich in history

The atmosphere is of a special kind at Villa Agreste, a country estate dating from the 18^th century and located in the midst of olive groves on a 20 hectare property near Ostuni. The preserved and restored underground oil mill is even older; it dates back to the 16^th century and radiates an atmosphere of bygone times.

Former outbuildings of the oil mill were renovated, remodeled and turned into four charming holiday apartments. They are similar in lay-out and differ mainly in size.

Each apartment includes a kitchen, a bathroom (shower/WC/bidet), free WiFi, a fireplace as well as heating. The kitchen holds a special, free-of-charge surprise for you: homemade, cold-pressed olive oil to round off your meals, which you can also enjoy out in the open, as each apartment comes with a small, furnished terrace (table and chairs).

Holiday apartment Sole (max. 3 pers.)

Small, lovely, cozy: Holiday apartment Sole sleeps 2 adults and 1 child in a bedroom with double bed and on a sofa bed in the live-and-eat-in kitchen. Air conditioning is available.

Holiday apartment Luna (max. 3 pers.)

Holiday apartment Luna too sleeps 3 persons in a double bedroom and on a sofa bed in the live-and-eat-in kitchen. Air conditioning is not yet available; it is to be installed and available for the 2025 season.

Holiday apartment Cornucopia (max. 4 pers.)

Holiday apartment Cornucopia is located next to apartment Sole, is, however, a bit larger. Cornucopia sleeps four in two bedrooms (double bed; twin beds). Air conditioning is available.

Holiday apartment Girasole (max. 5 pers.):

Girasole, the sunflower, is the largest apartment and includes a double bedroom as well as a bedroom for three with bunk bed and single bed. It comes with a small patch of garden. Air conditioning is available.

Large property with pool

Children can feel free to explore the rambling premises. Horses grazing peacefully on the paddock underline the idyllic atmosphere. Palm and olive trees line the driveway to Villa Agreste.

If you are in the mood for company, you might find some at the roofed patio with barbecue area and pizza oven. It is charmingly designed with small lemon trees and offers an ideal ambience for leisurely and pleasant summer evenings.

If you are in the mood for some exercise, or worried about putting on weight because of the irresistible Italian cuisine, you can 'work through' the 18 stations of the fitness trail on the property. Or swim some laps in the 6 m x 12 m pool, which is also great for simply cooling off on hot summer days. Pool open: June 01^st - October 10^th, 09:30 h - 19:00 h every day (changes due to weather conditions possible).

If you prefer a quieter pace, you can take a leisurely walk round the premises along a ca. 4 km path. The low-traffic roads in an impressive landscape are sure to appeal to cyclists, too. Bikes for rent: Two bicycles are available upon request and can be rented upon advance notice for € 10 /day per bike.

Parking: You can park your car on the fenced premises.

The sacred olive tree

Olive trees count among the oldest cultivated plants in the world and used to be considered sacred plants. Olive oil has always been a very important ingredient for a large variety of dishes, both savory and sweet, and has gained importance in the field of cosmetics and ointments.

Olive trees, which are so rich in tradition and history, secure the existence of and provide for the livelihood of Villa Agreste. The cultivation of olives and the production of olive oil on the estate are based on organic and environmentally friendly principles. According to an old Italian saying, sun, silence, dryness, rocks and solitude are essential for the growth of healthy and tasty olives. This special atmosphere is felt on the estate, where sustainability is also the guideline for running the holiday accommodations.

Wine and oil tasting: Taking part in a wine and oil tasting within the historic walls of the old oil mill is possible on request. Please ask family Iaia, who lives at Villa Agreste, for more information.

Shopping for what you need at Ostuni

Ostuni with various shopping facilities, restaurants, trattorie and bars is about 6 km from Villa Agreste.

Ostuni, located at 218 m a.s.l., is called the white town of Apulia and the radiant white of its houses never fails to fascinate you. In the 10^th/11^th centuries, it developed upon remains of Messapian origin. When strolling through the labyrinthine alleys, allow for enough time to take in the town, the atmosphere, simply all the impressions waiting for you there.

Fun at the beach on Italy's Adriatic coast

About 6 km to the east, the beaches and bays of the Adriatic coast await you. For many years now, the coast has been flying the Blue Flag for the exceptional quality of its sea waters.
A bit further to the south from there lies the protected, ca. 1,100 ha coastal stretch of "Riserva Naturale Torre Guaceto", where you get to admire, amongst others, an impressive underwater world.
