Casa Liama - Holiday home near Pescoluse

You can already spot the long dune beach around seaside resort Marina di Pescoluse when on your way to Augusto's estate with two holiday homes, Casa Liama and Pajara Augusto. Driving along narrow roads and past fragrant macchia takes you to the holiday paradise. 

'Mediterranean magnificent' is how you can describe the whole estate, where cacti, pine trees, caper bushes, olive and palm trees stretch and vine. And the two holiday homes, which lie screened off from each other on the premises - well, as soon as you get a look at them, you realize they are pure Puglia.

A cozy "liama" with cozy outdoor area

Similar to the trulli, the liame in Apulia were typical farmhouses of simple but solid drywall and quarry stone architecture. Unlike the trulli, however, they are of square or rectangular layout. Barrel vaults are also typical of theses houses. 

Photos in the kitchen of Casa Liama 'reveal' part of the history of this house, which Augusto's father once purchased as a summer residence for his family. Nowadays he still spends late summer season in this place, enjoys relaxing on the large terrace or in the shade of tall trees. When he is not there, guests from all over the world are welcome to spend their holidays at the liama and to experience the real Puglia. 

Traditional beach holidays near the "Maldives of the Salento"

Casa Liama with its beautiful roofed terrace is only a stone's throw (ca. 2 km) from the gorgeous sandy beaches of Pescoluse, which are known as the "Maldives of the Salento". They are quickly reached by car, but you can also walk there, when temperatures are agreeable to do so. 

The holiday home is located near the entrance onto the premises. Inside it has preserved and still radiates its traditional charm. You enter Casa Liama into the living room with sofa, dining area with fireplace and adjoining, open and lovely masonry kitchen (incl. gas stove, microwave, refrigerator, toaster).

In the sleeping area you find two bedrooms at your disposal, one with double bed and one with two bunk beds. There is one bathroom (shower/WC/bidet; washing machine). Amenities at Casa Liama also include internet access, air conditioning, TV and fly screens, in the outdoor area grill and outdoor shower. 

There's a parking space for your car on the fenced premises. 

Our tip: Visit Pescoluse during low season!

When schools in Italy are closed for summer vacation, from mid June to mid September, the beaches of Marina di Pescoluse are much frequented and also a popular destination of weekend trippers. Outside these times, however, you get to enjoy the fine dune beaches in peace and quiet. If you love long walks along the beach, you will find them to be a perfect choice, too.

Marina di Pescoluse is a typical Italian holiday resort and therefore well 'supplied' with bars and restaurants. The one closest to Casa Liama is about 2 km off. In summer, you will find various shopping facilities for groceries and everyday goods at Marina di Pescoluse. Stores and restaurants are also found at the nearby towns of Torre Vado and Salve.
